Riesling
Tumbarumba, New South Wales
Lively dry style Riesling from the Snowy Mountains
$40 each
The Riesling fruit for this fruit filled wine, was sourced from Juliette Cullen’s vineyard in Tumbarumba, planted in 2005 at 620m elevation. Tumbarumba, on the western foothills of the Snowy Mountains is a cool climate region with higher rainfall and slightly lower average monthly temperatures in comparison to Murrumbateman. The Riesling is cane pruned each year in contrast to the Helm Murrumbateman vineyards which are spur pruned. Importantly the grapes meet Ken’s painstakingly high standards— complex flavours, disease free, no sunburn or bird damage. The grapes were handpicked in naturally cool perfect conditions and delivered to the Helm winery at Murrumbateman in the early hours of the next day for immediate processing. Clean and fresh, apple and lemon zest with refreshing acidity.

Our goal is to produce quality Rieslings right across Australia that show the diverse terroir or characteristics of each region. This style was first made in 2013 when the perfect opportunity arose to source some superb Riesling from Juliet Cullen’s Excelsior (GM 110 clone ) vineyard planted in 2005 in near Tumbarumba. After its success we decided to make this wine an ongoing part of the Helm Riesling family. It was made using the same careful winemaking techniques that we use for our other Riesling styles and illustrates the important influence that terroir has on a wine.

A versatile wine that will pair wonderfully with many foods, particularly Asian cuisine and seafood.
